The benefits of the revolutionary new driveway turntable from British Turntable will be on show for all to see at the Suffolk Show, which this year takes place on Wednesday, 2nd and Thursday, 3rd June. The DriveAway can be seen in action on the AG Potter of Framlingham stand, no: 405, where it will be put to the test with an unusual 1944 Ford GPW, a vehicle that was manufactured in November 1944. Given that the average life of an all-terrain vehicle during the second world war was only six weeks, the model is extremely rare. British Turntable's representative in the area, Nick Corke, will be available to put the turntable through its paces. Nick was recently able to overturn a refused planning application for a house he wanted to build by including the DriveAway in his plans. The site, at Fore Street in Framlingham, is situated on a main road and, without the turntable, vehicles accessing the property would have had to be driven of or onto the road in reverse gear - not an ideal situation. Street parking was not an option. The Local Authority subsequently passed the new plans as 'the turntable arrangements would provide the necessary turning facilities and still allow sufficient space on site for the parking of two cars and a garden'. They even described the proposition as 'innovative'. Nick Corke comments: "I am very grateful to AG Potter for allowing me to display the turntable on their stand as it will give many people who were in my position the opportunity to see how beneficial it can be - and how easy it is to operate." The DriveAway was originally designed to solve the problem of entering and exiting driveways on busy main roads as it allows the vehicle to be turned round manually on the property without difficult or lengthy manoeuvring. Since the DriveAway's launch, homeowners have been discovering even more benefits: it has been installed in properties with long single track entrances, and where high hedges or fences obscure vision; it is particularly useful if the driver finds it difficult or painful to keep the head and shoulders turned for extended periods. And, in Nick Corke's case, it has meant the difference between being able to build a new home and not.
