The revolutionary new driveway turntable from British Turntable is to make a special appearance at the Chelsea Flower Show in May, demonstrating how easy and cost-effective it can be to retain the look and feel of a garden while creating parking space and turnaround for the family car. The Turntable Garden, which has been designed by Classic Landscapes of Sale in Cheshire, is to be constructed on 'Sunflower Street', itself a representation of an attractive urban street. The DriveAway turntable will feature a deck specially constructed for the show. Originally conceived to provide a solution to the dangerous procedure of reversing onto or from a busy main road, the DriveAway has proved to offer many additional benefits to the householder since its launch at the BBC Gardeners' World Show in June 2002. Homes with a narrow entry, high fences or hedges that restrict vision, or that have a long, winding, single track entrance, will find the DriveAway indispensable as it reduces difficult vehicle manoeuvres and makes it possible to negotiate awkward driveways more safely. The car is simply driven onto the DriveAway and, when the time comes to drive off again, it can be pushed through 180 degrees to point it in the right direction. Young and old visitors to the BBC Gardeners World Show and the Royal Horticultural Society Show at Tatton Park last year quickly discovered that turning the car requires only minimal effort. And because of no electrical power is used it is extremely cost-effective and can be self-installed. The DriveAway is proving itself in homes as far afield as Cumbria and Tenerife. In Cumbria, a retired couple have installed the unit themselves in a new constructed patio area to avoid having to reserve down or up a long and narrow driveway to the main road. In Tenerife the unit has been installed in a garage, again by a senior citizen, to avoid reversing up a steep, narrow and windy slope onto a busy thoroughfare. In both cases the DriveAway has been flush-fitted ino the surrounding surface, a relatively simple and inexpensive option given its low profile of only 70mm. The turntable has, however, been designed to be placed on top of the driveway or garage surface itself. Ramps are included to allow the vehicle to be driven onto the turntable safely, and a locking device prevents the turntable being turned accidently. Economically priced, the DriveAway is robust enough to take the majority of family-sized vehicles up to 1800kg in weight, is smooth in operation, built to withstand inclement weather conditions and requires little maintenance. The DriveAway turntable can be seen at the Chelsea Flower Show from 20-23 May 2003, and further information is available from Phil Childs on tel: +44 (0)1204 525626, fax +44 (0)1204 382407, e-mail info@turntable.co.uk or contact us via our enquiry form with your specific enquiry.
