Tools of the Trade Take a Turn

Dee Cee Upholstery show off the tools of their trade at their Southampton store using a Mini Carousel from British Turntable.

A Mini Carousel from British Turntable has helped Dee Cee Upholstery, 'a small business with big ideas', to create an attractive revolving window display. Rather the results of Dee Cees' craftsmanship, however, it is the turn of the traditional tools and materials of the upholstery trade to take centre stage at the Southampton store.

The Master Upholsterers (co-founder, Derek Caplen was the youngest person, at the age of 21, to become a member of the Association of Master Upholsterers (AMU) and was made a Fellow of the Association in 2002) are absolutely delighted with the results, as the movement causes passers-by to stop and look. They have also found the Mini Carousel to be extremely versatile, particularly when used with the static centre they bought when purchasing the unit. A tribute display to Matt Le Tissier, when he announced his retirement from professional football, was their first entry into the world of movement and the current use of the turntable is still generating tremendous interest in the shop and its products.

The Mini Carousel, fondly known in the retail trade as the 'blue 'n', has become a popular choice of display medium in the retail trade because of its impressive carrying potential. Up to its maximum evenly distributed load of 227kg, the Mini Carousel will rotate displays up to 1.5m in height and has an adjustable diameter from 450mm up to 1.5m when used with its stabilising legs and extending arms. Added to research data from POPAI (Point of Purchase Advertising International) showing that movement at the point of purchase can increase sales by more than 30%, this makes for a powerful sales enhancing tool.

British Turntable now offers more than 100 standard products to create movement in the retail environment, from simple rotary and rocker units and small battery-powered revolves, ideal where it is difficult to supply mains power, to larger units that can be used on their own or with others to create more complex integrated combinations.

Committed to quality, British Turntable has been developing and manufacturing display movement for more than 40 years and is accredited to the world-recognised quality standard, ISO 9001.
